I came across this company called Blessed Brides that basically recycles your wedding dress/es for you. You send them your wedding dress and they will give it to a poor bride in Pakistan, India or Bangladesh or sell it to fund someone's wedding.
I thought what a fantastic idea. I've emailed them to see if they have a base in the States and will update if they do.
I know I personally have my 2 (ok 3, don't ask!!) very elaborate wedding lenghas sitting in a dress bag somewhere that I will probably never fit into again. Its hard to let go of these sentimental things but if it can be of use to someone in need, then it makes giving it up a little easier.
Their site for those of you in the UK, is http://www.blessedbrides.co.uk/
I think I might even put their site on my website. After all, I do see a LOT of brides and every little helps :)
I'm a makeup artist specialising in Indian/Pakistani/Bengali weddings. I love what I do and swear to only do this as long as I love it :) I decided to start my own blog since I always have so much to say about weddings and brides and all the stuff that comes with them. If you need to get in touch, you can email me at info@pictureperfectmakeovers.com or check out my site at www.pictureperfectmakeovers.com

What kind of bride are you?
Some brides are wedding-centric and some are groom-centric.
What does that mean you may ask?
Well the wedding-centric bride is obsessed with the details. Are the flowers the right color/shape/size? Is the mandap centered in the stage? The wedding-centric bride is involved in every detail of the wedding and often has a hard time letting go of the little things. This bride is a perfectionist and knows exactly what she wants. A rare quality! Her groom is just as perfect as her and they are a match made in heaven!
The groom-centric bride is a rare creature. She doesn't care if the seam on her dress is coming apart or if the caterers got the wrong timings or if the cake collapsed on the way in
But, you will catch the groom-centric bride texting her husband-to-be the morning of her wedding. You might even see a picture of her man in her purse. This bride knows the most important event of the day is that her and her man will become one by the end of this day and that's the most important thing to her and him!
